Infertility is defined as the inability for a woman under age 35 to become pregnant after a year of unprotected intercourse. Infertility is much more common as women age so a woman over 35 may need help sooner.
Infertility causes are typically divided into eight categories:
- Male factor
- Ovarian failure or dysfunction
- Cervical factor
- Tubal factor
- Hormonal imbalance (luteal phase defect, etc.)
- Endometriosis
- Uterine factor
- Polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)
